OWNERSHIP MURRAY EDWARDS MURRAY EDWARDS CONTINUES to be an owner who shies from the spotlight. To that end, when Calgary Flames captain Mikael Backlund played his 1,000th game for the club, it was part-owner Allan Markin who presented Backlund with his silver stick. But behind the scenes, Edwards wields plenty of power as the majority owner of the Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation (CSEC). In fact, it was reported last season that the decision to block a Jacob Markstrom trade at the deadline came from the top after GM Craig Conroy had an agreement in principle with the New Jersey Devils.
