Charlie Murata is already battling his dad for YouTube supremacy, and someday soon, he’ll be fighting for the top spot on NHL draft boards

SEARCH FOR “Murata” on YouTube and you’ll get some hits for Charlie Murata – but you’ll also get a bunch for his dad, the fishing ace Taro Murata. Taro’s videos are well-known in angling circles, and with Charlie making a name for himself in the hockey world, there could be a great competition for virality from here on out. The younger Murata is a potential No. 1 pick in the OHL draft this year. He’s been carving up the U-16 Greater Toronto League with the juggernaut Don Mills Flyers, the same program responsible for Mitch Marner, Shane Wright, Brandt Clarke and many others. “He’s a dynamic skater, and he can control the pace of his game with his skating,” said one scout. “And he’s not just trying to skate around everybody.…
