The Coyotes don’t need to pay North Pole postage for Santa to know what’s atop their list. The team needs AN ARENA. The novelty of Arizona playing home games at 5,000-seat Mullett Arena has worn off, but the franchise suffered a staggering blow when its proposed Tempe arena was vetoed by voters. Owner Alex Meruelo, however, told Coyotes fans the organization has “faced setbacks but no defeats.” He remains dedicated to a new arena in the desert. Whether it comes to fruition is another story. Nothing Connor Bedard has shown in his first month has shaken confidence that he’ll become a star. But Lukas Reichel’s start to the season has left much to be desired.
