I was inspired by the birth of my firstborn ten years ago. I'd longed to be a mother ever since I was little. I imagined wonder and utmost joy. And the reality was a heart full of love intermingled with pain, loneliness and exhaustion. I didn't realise how much grief I'd held inside. I had no real sense of community, and I longed for deep conversations, loving support and a shoulder to cry on. I felt lost in mother and baby groups; I didn't feel I could connect with anyone in an authentic way. I searched for a nurturing space that I could join with my baby.
