Will Labour build back better?

I HAVE NOT BEEN A FAN OF WHAT the Conservative government did over the last 14 years to the country’s architecture. Whatever may have been their good intentions — and it should not be forgotten that many Conservative MPs are admirers of the late Roger Scruton who in 2018 was appointed to chair the Building Better, Building Beautiful Commission — in practice they were beholden to developers who were party donors. They gave them as much freedom as possible to knock down old buildings and put up monster new developments designed to attract international firms to London.
