Burn was a surprise call-up to the Three Lions scene when Tuchel named his first squad. The Magpies man is part of a 24-man group preparing for World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia.
Tuchel had already outlined some of Burn’s qualities and believes the 32-year-old has a lot to offer the group despite his international experience. The Blyth-born player has not played for England at any age group and felt his time had passed with England before getting the call from the new boss.
It capped a remarkable rise for the one-time Asda employee. However, Kane believes the Newcastle star is on a level with him, Jordan Henderson and Kyle Walker when it comes to leading the squad, despite the trio having more than 200 caps between them.
When asked about the squad’s leadership group in the squad under Tuchel, the Bayern striker added: “We've had brief conversations with it but it hasn’t been set. You've got me, Hendo (Jordan Henderson), Kyle (Walker) and then Dan Burn is seen as a leader. It hasn’t been spoken about a lot.”
Burn, whose man of the match performance on Sunday helped Newcastle win the Carabao Cup, is in contention to make his England bow tonight against Albania in a quick return to Wembley.
And Tuchel has dropped a strong hint about how he wants the Three Lions to play, which seems to fit the physical style of the 6ft 7in defender.
Tuchel, whose side also play Latvia at Wembley on Monday, reiterated his side will be trying to replicate the qualities on show in the Premier League during their World Cup qualifying campaign.
He said: “You can light up a stadium so easily in the Premier League with one tackle, with one header and everyone is suddenly on board, and this is what it is.
