Over the last four years, Hard Rock Newcastle, as well as having plenty of diners to tuck into burgers and sip on an eye-catching line-up of cocktails, also hosted performances from a host of local musicians, as well as having brunches every weekend and themed events like a sold-out Kevin & Perry brunch.
On the eve of the Carabao Cup final, a post appeared on the restaurant's Facebook and Instagram pages to wish Newcastle well against Liverpool, illustrating their message with a photo of midfielder Bruno Guimaraes in the restaurant. And, as the city was waking up to a new cup-winning era for the Magpies, there was even a post encouraging people to get themselves down for St Patrick’s Day.
However, it became apparent that, despite the post, the doors to Hard Rock weren't open on Monday evening and, by Tuesday lunchtime, the doors remained locked and curtains closed, as speculation mounted online that the restaurant had indeed closed down.
