New-wave ceramics
The much cherished vintage ceramics trend is suddenly giving way. Coming into fashion instead are natural, hand-made ceramics, often surprisingly affordable considering the workmanship that goes into them. Look for hand-pottered plates and platters in markets, stalls and potters’ studios with prices often as low as $10 an item. Or for a splashy piece, invest in the work of Sydney ceramicist Marie-Hélène Clauzon (left), whose bowls, vases and platters appear in food publications.
