Baby wipes alert Dermatologists are warning of an epidemic of allergic dermatitis and chemical burns caused by a preservative in baby wipes, skincare products and shampoos. The chemical, isothiazolinone, appeared in some cosmetic and personal care products from 2005 and is now an ingredient in up to 50 per cent of baby wipes. Read the product label carefully. Q I have to go into hospital soon for a hip replacement and wondered what advice you may have as to what I need to take with me? I am 55 and do not have any relatives nearby.
