Officer Jolly approached the silver-haired woman standing near her front door, wringing her hands. Even with the elf cut-out peeking from behind an overgrown shrub, the place didn’t look very festive.
‘I’m sorry to bring you out on Christmas Eve,’ she said, nodding towards the people arguing in the street. ‘I didn’t know what else to do.’
