ON THE NOSE What’s happened to the scent of Christmas trees? When I was a child they always smelled so good, but nowadays they seem to have no scent at all. Christine Simpson, Canberra, ACT Sadly today many trees lack that traditional pine scent. It doesn’t bother my daughter Uvula as she says Christmas trees aren’t eco-friendly. Last year she decorated her Peace Lily instead. She bought pre-tangled Xmas lights to save time then smashed all the Christmas ornaments to annoy the cat. Haul out your old fake tree and spray the room with pine air freshener. FAKE SAVINGS Why does everyone put prices up at this time of year, then slash them on Boxing Day? No matter how hard I save I never have enough to buy nice gifts…
