For some, the appeal of macro photography lies in mastering the considerable technical challenges involved in capturing incredible close-up images, while for others their inspiration is the subject matter itself and the desire to get closer to it. Photographer Alessandro Zocchi is definitely an example of the latter. “When I was a child I was very attracted to nature,” he recalls. “I loved to go to parks and observe in detail the plants and animals. One day my father gave me a book. It was the only available book in macro photography.
