The Point of it All

I recently chatted to someone who had had a medical scare. In the short spell when they weren’t sure how much time they had left—years, months or weeks, even—they found themselves wondering, “Is this it? Is this all the time I have and am I happy with how I’ve spent it?” I can’t stop thinking about the conversation, especially since I’m one of those people who spends so much time and energy prepping for the future that they forget to live in the present; it’s also forced me to think about purpose, and what that really looks like.
