Is there room for another show stopping skyscraper in Hong Kong’s crowded skyline? We peek into the making of The Henderson by Zaha Hadid Architects and its plan to breathe new life into the heart of the city

Pushing boundaries is an everyday occurrence at Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA), the global practice built by the visionary Iraqi British architect Zaha Hadid. Just ask Sara Klomps, who has been with the firm since 1998. “Our creative process has always been very iterative. We test several options, try different avenues and merge various ideas in a collaborative manner, [while] also considering input from our clients. We always try to find another way apart from the conventional,” says Klomps, who serves as director of ZHA’s Hong Kong office. The firm’s experimental, no-holds-barred approach is evident in its diverse portfolio, which spans 950 commercial and residential projects across 44 countries, many of which have become modern-day landmarks.
