Tag Heuer is charging full steam ahead into 2024 with two reimagined, mid-century-inspired timepieces. These brand new Carrera watches come in a tantalising teal, and incorporate the brand’s signature “Dato” layout, which first hit boutiques in the 1960s. What makes this dial’s design so intriguing is the watchmaker’s decision to place the date window at nine o’clock. The 30-minute counter sits opposite, at three o’clock, giving this throwback chronograph a pleasing symmetrical impression.
A curved flange, the area between the hour chapter ring and the outermost edges of the dial, and circular brushed finishing add to the elegance of this piece. The automatic TH20-07 manufacture calibre with 80 hours’ power reserve can be admired through a domed sapphire crystal caseback, which craftsmen have affectionately nicknamed “Glassbox” after the similarly curved…
