A second residential facility for sick children and their families will open near Hong Kong Children’s Hospital

Since its establishment in 1974, Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), through its Ronald McDonald House (RMH) Programme, has provided free accommodation and support for the families of hospitalised children the world over. The first RMHC in Asia, RMHC Hong Kong, a local Chapter 88 charity, opened a 23-room RMH in Shatin to do just this. “Providing a ‘home away from home’ is a crucial component of RMHC’s service. We believe children heal faster when they feel secure and happy with their families close to them.” says Grace Fung Oei, chairperson of RMHC Hong Kong. “Home is wherever we are with our family.” “RMHC is a pioneer in advocating family-centred care in Hong Kong,” says Iris Wong, executive director of RMHC Hong Kong.
