Inspired by the fashion house’s signature fabric, Chanel’s latest high jewellery collection is effortlessly elegant

Tweed has been synonymous with Chanel ever since the house’s founder popularised the fabric back in the Roaring Twenties. But despite its now indisputable repute, tweed has never appeared in Chanel’s numerous high jewellery collections. That is, until now. For the very first time, the fabric stars in a 45-piece Tweed de Chanel line that features ropes of gold dripping with diamonds. Chanel’s other inspirations—the camellia, stars and lions, for example—take a backseat as Patrice Leguéreau, director of the maison’s Jewelry Creation Studio, devotes an entire roster of jewels to the fabric Coco Chanel found oh-so enticing. What really makes Tweed de Chanel so fascinating is each creation’s textural irregularities.
