Four examples of Paul Andrew’s reinterpretation of designs from the Salvatore Ferragamo archive into lust-worthy modern styles

THE FLOWER HEEL The round-toed Column heel was designed by Salvatore Ferragamo specifically for the American market in 1939. The modern interpretation features a similar stacked heel in gold, but slightly higher. THE F WEDGE The patented 1947 creation of a sandal with invisible thread straps is one of Ferragamo’s most outstanding styles. Andrew transplants the iconic wedge heel onto pointed boots wrapped in velvet. THE VARA FLAT Designed by Salvatore’s daughter Fiamma in 1967, the Vara ballerina is one of the house’s bestsellers. Andrew has replaced the grosgrain fabric with a technical nylon webbing and leaves the edges frayed for a raw finish. THE KIMO HEEL Salvatore designed the Kimo heel after a trip to Kyoto where he observed geishas wearing wooden sandal socks.
