One morning last month, not coincidentally just after indulging in a holiday dinner of cheese fondue and all manner of Swiss accoutrements, I stepped onto a scale to discover I weighed more than I ever have before. Even my dog is getting fat. It is also not coincidental that we have dedicated this January issue to the theme of wellness, since many of us see a new year as an opportunity to look for ways to improve our lives, whether through fitness or healthier behaviour, or even a fresh diet.
