Recent seasons have seen designers slapping logos and slogans on tees and ties alike. Now the trend takes on a quieter spin with printed words forming patterns on fabric. Chitose Abe of Sacai sent models down the runway in outfits with repeating lines of text stating “Stasis as to Vector All in Due Course.” The creation of artist Lawrence Weiner, the print was on separates and jumpsuits for her spring/ summer 2018 collection. With a subtler take on the trend, Dior Homme wrote the address of its Paris flagship store on ribbons to create makeshift ties, while Palm Angels incorporated words into its surf riot-inspired pieces, printing “Black Sun,” the name of the collection, onto utilitarian harness belts.
