News events in Asia and beyond stand to have a massive impact on investors and their portfolios

The outcome of three critical risk events that occurred in a one-week period at the beginning of November could have enormous long-term ramifications for investors and their portfolios. First, on November 5, Americans went to the polls and gave former President Donald Trump a clear mandate for a second term. He won all seven swing states—a result that ultimately decided the election—and also won the popular vote, ie the most votes overall, something he didn’t do in 2016. In a sign of the swing to Trump’s right-wing agenda, he gained ground in all but two states. Furthermore, the Republican party won control of the Senate and retained control of the House of Representatives, giving them a clean sweep of Congress and the ability for the president to pursue his policies…
