Say goodbye to man flu this winter as menswear designers embrace the scarf in all its snuggly, slinky forms

From the dandy silken numbers favoured by the likes of Jamie Hince and Rod Stewart in the 1970s to the chunky woollen and woven versions that could easily double up as a blanket for two, scarves mean serious business this season. Katie Eary paired ombré knitwear with matching chunky, oversized scarves in her collaboration with Woolmark, while Aquascutum showed scarves hand-painted in Italy for a reassuringly expensive-looking finish. Equally as important as the scarves themselves were the varying modes d’emploi decreed by different designers. Short, chunky numbers were knotted high around the neck at Hermès, while generously long and slouchy knits were looped luxuriously outside the lapels at Missoni.
