Avant-garde Australian designer Kym Ellery shares her perfect day in the city

I’VE ALWAYS HAD an affinity with the ocean and I’m very career-focused. Sydney is the perfect place for both of these things. The most incredible subtropical coastline with pristine beaches is on your doorstep, yet the city itself is an awesome hub for design, arts, culture, restaurants, bars and live music. I live in the city’s north, in Palm Beach, which is on a spit bound on one side by the Pacific Ocean and the other by Pittwater. A typical day for me begins at 7am. My yoga instructor comes to my house and we do an hour of yoga and meditation on the balcony. The 180-degree view of the ocean and the salt in the air create a very therapeutic experience.
