In recent years, Milan has risen to become one of the world’s design capitals—and 2016 heralds the exciting return of the Milan Triennale. This year’s theme is The 21st Century: Design After Design. FONDAZIONE PRADA Prada’s magnificent cultural centre, which was designed by renowned Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas and boasts a Wes Anderson-designed cafeteria, opened in May. It uses innovative methods to explore themes in art, science, philosophy, cinema, literature and music. In An Introduction, which runs until January 10, Miuccia Prada and art historian and curator Germano Celant intertwine elements of the artistic dialogue that led to the opening of the centre. fondazioneprada.org VILLA NECCHI Located in the centre of Milan, Villa Necchi was once the home of a wealthy family and is now the property of the Italian National Trust.
