It’s not often you can convince 10 of the city’s jet set to don silver leather and neon face paint for the camera, but such is the dedication of these A-listers to their chosen cause—the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts— that they participated with gusto. In choosing their outfits, these members of the organising committee were inspired by the theme for the Academy Ball, “astral.” The December 12 fundraising gala is one of the few events where guests are literally permitted to tread the boards, with the dinner and dance being held on the stage of the Lyric Theatre.
