Y IS FOR: YAU LOK Rebecca T Lin has always lived in Sai Kung, where the minibus is the easiest way to commute between villages and to and from the town centre. “I have a love-hate relationship with the minibus’s ability to let me get off anywhere,” the Eurasian artist says. “While it’s a convenient way to visit friends who live in villages without a designated stop, I’m not confident in my Cantonese. I struggle to engage with the driver by saying anything beyond ‘yau lok’,” a phrase that means “alighting”, used to ask the driver to stop.
