here’s a Cantonese idiom that correlates a woman’s breasts (and the depth of her cleavage) to how successful she’ll be in the workplace. It translates literally as “career line.” Sexist and outdated? Yes. Which is why the Woman’s Foundation has developed a social media campaign to banish the expression. Launched on International Women’s Day and titled #MyRealCareerLine, it tackles casual sexism in everyday language by asking women—and men—to celebrate women’s capabilities by uploading photos to the campaign’s site. There, a stylised cleavage torn in half is superimposed on the pictures, which participants can then share on social media—using the hashtag, of course.
