This recipe will take a little longer than the one on the back of a syrup bottle, but the extra steps yield mouthwatering results.

Stir. Keep the mix of pecans and butter moving so it doesn’t burn. Temper. Prevent the eggs from scrambling by whisking in a few tablespoons of the warm syrup. Once tempered, this mix is ready to mingle with the other ingredients. Transfer. Fill the prepared crust with the pecan mix. Be sure to get every bit of the buttery syrup into the shell. Test. Check if the pecan pie is done by piercing the center with a knife. If the blade comes away clean, the pie is fully baked. If the knife is sticky, give the pie another few minutes.…
