I stared into his huge eyes and knew we were meant to be together. ‘I’ll call you Cloud,’ I decided, pulling the little scrap of a kitten with paws too big for his body into my arms. My friend smiled from her doorway. Just that morning, she had told me about someone she knew whose cat had given birth. They couldn’t take care of the litter and threatened to drown them if they couldn’t be rehomed immediately. I’d instantly told her I’d take one.
