We were relaxing on the sofa watching television when in walked our cat, Billy. ‘Hello, darling,' I said. He licked his paws and purred contentedly until suddenly his head jerked at something in the distance. He arched his back, his eyes widened and the fur over his spine stood on end. ‘It's like he's seen a ghost,' I said to my husband Phillip. It wasn't like Billy at all. A few nights later, with my two children tucked into bed, we settled in front of the television again. Then, I heard creaking footsteps in the hallway.
