I gave my husband a big grin and said, ‘That's done! Finally.' I'd always promised myself that one day, I'd go on a big holiday to Thailand. There was something about it - the beautiful clear waters and stunning cliffs hiding tiny coves that I'd seen in pictures. Even better, we'd be spending Christmas on the beach, swapping turkeys for tans. And now, with my 40th birthday on the horizon, this was the right time to book such a huge milestone holiday. I'd paid about £10,000 for me, my husband and our four boys for the flights and the gorgeous hotel right on the beachfront in Phuket for two weeks.
