Matthew passed away, aged 27, in May 2020. He was on his way home from a barbecue when he died in a motorbike collision. It was such a shock and I miss him very much. I did wonder if he’d had a premonition. The day he died was bright and sunny and I was in the garden. Before he left, he said to me, ‘It’s good to enjoy life.’ He’d also been calling people he hadn’t spoken to for ages and saying sorry for things he might have done. We still have a family gathering on his birthday to mark the day. Maybe that’s the birthday party he’s thanking me for. I think his golden angel ‘Paul’ could be Matthew’s schoolfriend Paul, who passed away when he was just 14.…
