A deck of fortune-telling cards unleashed chaos on my poor family.

Unpacking the shopping bags, my husband Steve took out carrots, pasta, tinfoil – and a random pack of tarot cards. ‘Have you been on the middle aisle again?’ I said. ‘You asked for a treat,’ he replied. ‘Enjoy!’ Leafing through the instruction booklet, I felt a spark of excitement, imagining myself giving readings to friends, everyone marvelling at my mystical powers.
