As I turned off the vacuum, I suddenly heard a knock at the front door. Who could that be? I wasn't expecting anyone. When I opened the door, I was faced with my ex-husband. ‘Michael?’ I gaped at him. We'd divorced years before, not long after the birth of our third son.
