Why was my son so terrified of our new home? I had to find out.

Mummy, I don't want to go out there alone,’ my four-year-old Peter whimpered, pointing to the backyard. ‘The big black thing with the red eyes scares me.’ I sighed. Ever since we'd moved into this old rental house, Peter had been talking about the scary big black thing with red eyes lurking outside. Soon after, my husband Nick and I heard an almighty scream. Peter was standing ashen-faced, looking into the garden. ‘It's there, Mummy!’ he said, pointing to a spot two metres off the ground. We couldn't see anything. One night, he woke up screaming.
