Shuffling the items on my shelf around, I nudged a sheep skull across, then rearranged a tortoise foot. ‘We’re running out of space,’ I muttered to myself. My collection of oddities was growing rapidly, even spilling over into my two kids’ bedrooms. Fortunately, they didn’t mind. To them, my collection of the weird and wonderful was just ‘Dad’s thing’. I’d always had an interest in unusual and spooky stuff, and was always on the lookout for more, finding all kinds of things on eBay, such as antique medical devices, skulls and creepy dolls. When we moved to a bigger house in the beautiful village of Pontywaun, Caerphilly, I had more room for my collection and was able to create my very own cabinet of curiosities.
