Mystic mystery
The mystic indicated the orb of swirling smoke. ‘You are certain you wish to lose this grief, Therese? In the ash of loss, seedlings may grow.’ ‘Yes, I just can’t bear it any more. David’s gone, and I – If I could just forget – I could live again!’ Therese grasped the orb and the billowing fog grew. A small boy lifted the tent flap. ‘Mama, let’s do coconuts!’ The mystic’s eyes widened in horror. ‘No… you said… You had no child by David!’ ‘Eh? No, I don’t have children. Who’s David?’ Therese blinked, turning to the boy tugging at her sleeve. ‘Hello young man, are you lost? Shall we find your mummy?’
