On April 27, 1922, Charles L. Horn launched Federal Cartridge Corporation out of a struggling machine shop in Anoka, Minnesota. Initially occupying a modest 9,600 square foot facility, today Federal Ammunition offers more than a thousand products out of a facility that spans 175 acres and includes more than 960,000 square feet of manufacturing space. Employing nearly 1,500 people, Federal is an industry leader producing shotshell, centerfire and rimfire ammunition. HUMBLE BEGINNINGS The year 1922 was an unquestionably interesting one. That’s when the British Empire reached its zenith, ruling over fully one-fourth of the human population. President Warren G. Harding had the first radio installed in the White House.
