Thomas Robinson’s first surf in eight years was almost his last. It was in Ireland, a few winters back during the filming of Harry Bryant’s Motel Hell. He was there to shoot photos. “He’d told me before we went,” recalls the film’s director, Dav Fox, “‘I want to get a bomb at Riley’s’ and I was thinking, yeah, sweet, whatever. Like, it’s a fucking gnarly wave to try and surf. We rocked up that day and it was super heavy. Haz was way too hungover to surf. Craig and Wade were there but neither of them wanted anything to do with it.
