Back on June 14, Tasmanian surfing lost a giant with the passing of Mick Lawrence. One of Tassie’s surfing pioneers, Mick led a rich surfing life and over the years became one of the island state’s most respected surfing elders. But Mick was also a writer, filmmaker, a bit of a renaissance man and in his later years, a passionate advocate for Tasmania’s wilderness.
