16 on Lerotholi promotes African art in Langa

Contemporary African art took off in the 1970s. During this time, many colonised African nations began to reclaim their independence, rekindling a sense of patriotism and freedom of expression in the visual arts. African art has been greatly influenced by its unique expression style, which includes traditional forms like sculpture, dance and modern trends such as painting and photography. Mpilo Ngcukana, Shaun Williams, Thulani Fesi, and Khanyo Ngcukana founded 16 on Lerotholi, an art gallery, with the goal of redefining the African dream and showcasing the creativity of the African continent to a global audience.
