LA BATTAGLIA DI FARSALO è entrata nella storia della letteratura grazie al poema epico scritto da Marco Anneo Lucano. Nato a Cordova ed educato alla filosofia stoica, Lucano fu perseguitato da Nerone, che ne invidiava il talento poetico. Questo spinse Lucano a partecipare a una cospirazione contro l’imperatore; condannato a morte, si suicidò nel 65 d.C., a soli venticinque anni. Nella Farsaglia, Giulio Cesare viene presentato come un precursore della tirannide neroniana, come un politico che non esita a provocare una guerra civile per conquistare il potere.…
