DOPO ESSERE SBARCATO in Epiro, Giulio Cesare tentò di soffocare le forze di Pompeo a Dirrachio. Cesare, colto di sorpresa da una controffensiva pompeiana, il dieci luglio lasciò la città costiera e si diresse a sud verso la Tessaglia. Ad Aiginion si ricongiunse con le forze del suo generale Calvino, poi prese e saccheggiò Gonfi e infine si diresse verso la valle del fiume Enipeo, dove si trovava la città di Farsalo. Pompeo, da parte sua, dopo aver inseguito Cesare fino ad Apollonia tornò indietro e attraversò la Macedonia sud-occidentale fino a Larissa, dove si unì alle legioni di Metello Scipione. 35 chilometri più a sud si trovava la cittá di Farsalo, nei cui pressi si svolse la battaglia decisiva tra pompeiani e cesariani. 1 DISPOSIZIONE DEGLI ESERCITI DI POMPEO…
