Der frischeste Sound der Stunde ist Jazz aus London, und sein Star heißt Shabaka Hutchings

Oben auf der Bühne steht ein Mann, der spielt, als gäbe es kein Morgen mehr. Mal funky, mal free, sehr free bläst er in sein Saxofon. Oft scheint er abzuheben mit seinem Instrument – von der Bühne des „Heimathafen Neukölln“ in ferne Sphären, doch mit Keyboard und Schlagzeug gelingt es seinen beiden Begleitern, ihn immer wieder einzufangen. Eine wunderbare, wilde Musik. So unberechenbar – das muss doch Jazz sein? „Mit dem Wort kann ich nicht viel anfangen“, sagt der Mann mit dem Saxofon am Tag vor dem Auftritt in Berlin. Er heißt Shabaka Hutchings, stammt aus London, und in seiner Heimat ist er der Star einer neuen Jazz-Szene – schon wieder dieses Wort.
