A new €10 coin series from Münze Österreich focuses on the traditional clothing of Austrian regions known as trachten: the dirndl, comprising a tight bodice and wide skirt and apron; and the lederhosen, with its loden jacket and ornate horn buttons. The coins in the series will focus on the materials used in the production of these traditional items of clothing. Crafted in pure silver, two coin in the series will be released in 2025. Aufdirndln – Linen captures the essence of the dirndl and honours its historical significance and enduring legacy, while Aufbrezeln – Leather highlights lederhosen, which symbolises Austrian culture and identity like almost no other item of clothing.
