Having just returned from the Uruguay 2025 World Stamp Show, Bill Barrell shares his experiences of his first time exhibiting and dealing in South America.

TELL US A BIT ABOUT URUGUAY 2025? Uruguay 2025 World Stamp Show was held in the coastal city of Punta del Este in south-east Uruguay from 17 to 22 February. It had the full recognition and support of the Fédération Internationale de Philatélie (FIP), and it was held in part to celebrate 200 years since the declaration of independence of Uruguay. Although there were problems with the logistics of the show, FIP can take enormous credit for having the courage to organise a World Stamp Show when, shall I say ‘larger International Federations’, such as France, Italy, Benelux, Canada, Spain/Portugal, Austria and others, have shied away from such exhibitions for some time (Capex 2022 in Toronto was a one-frame International only).
