Stunning photographs of key items from the collection of the Royal Armouries feature in a new set of eight stamps and miniature sheet from Royal Mail.

Royal Mail celebrated the Royal Armouries, the UK’s national museum of arms and armour, with a set of eight special stamps on 30 January. One of the most important institutions of its type in the world, its collection consists of over 75,000 objects from around the globe and spans more than 2,400 years, from Roman armour to a firearm commissioned for the beginning of the current millennium. It is displayed at three sites: the White Tower at the Tower of London; the main purpose-built museum in Leeds, which includes the national collection of firearms started in 1631 by Charles I; and Fort Nelson near Portsmouth, where larger guns are on display.
