JENNIFER WAS SITTING outside eating jellybeans. Nothing special about that. She did it every Thursday. But then . . . Something bounced over a fence, raced across the street, and stopped right in front of her nose. “Who are you?” asked Jennifer, a little frightened. “The Gummiwolf,” said the creature, licking his lips. “What’s a Gummiwolf?” she asked. “It’s like a wolf,” explained the animal, “but gummy.” And he licked his lips again. That was enough for Jennifer. Never mind the jellybeans. She leaped to her feet and ran as fast as she could in the other direction. As fast as she was, though, the Gummiwolf was faster. He got closer . . . And closer. He was an inch away when Jennifer screamed, “TAXI!” and a yellow taxi pulled…
