AT THE BEGINNING, what did Zoey want? A dog. Did she just kind of, sort of want one? Did she think about it every once in a while? Of course not! Zoey, oh, she wanted a dog with all her heart! She thought about it night and day, with every tick of the clock. So what did her parents say? “No.” “Why not?” Zoey wanted, tearfully, not cheerfully, to know. “A dog is too much work.
