It Came from the Trash

IT’S A BEAUTIFUL day for a walk in the woods. But as you turn down a bend in the path, you look up and see a gigantic face peering down at you. A troll! Don’t worry, it’s not going to eat you. It’s a sculpture by an artist named Thomas Dambo . . . and it’s made out of trash! Some artists use paint and paintbrushes. Others use clay and stone. Others still use wool and fabric. Thomas Dambo uses trash. When Thomas was a boy growing up in Denmark, he liked building things. BIG things, like tree houses and skateboard ramps. But Thomas had no money to buy  the materials he needed. So what did he do? He biked around his neighborhood looking for discarded trash he could recycle…
